Things To Do In Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Hayden!

YEARLY EVENTS

Car d lane Every year in June (June 15th & 16th, 2012) classic cars from all over the Northwest cruise on Friday evening for about 2 hours, park, then show all day Saturday, with trophies in the afternoon. Downtown streets are all closed down. It's a great festive atmosphere with music, food and bands for dancing. Phil & I have a 1966 Galaxie 7 liter we enter in the show. It's always a fun weekend.
Check out the CAR d LANE website

Ironman June 24th, 2012 will be the 5th year here. Ironman Coeur d Alene is one of the biggest and most exciting events Coeur d Alene hosts. The production is incredible and a sight for all locals to enjoy at no cost. I have heard it is also the most favorite location for the Ironman participants due to Coeur d Alene volunteers going all out to make them welcome. There are many jobs for volunteers so sign up early.
Check out the IRONMAN website.

Art On The Green, Downtown Street Fair, Taste of the Coeur d Alene's August 3,4,5 2012. This is a huge event , so large there is a shuttle bus to transport you to different events downtown. "Art on The Green" is 135 juried artists' booths with art for sale. See the Beautiful You Tube video of this event.

Idaho is an outdoor enthusiasts delight. The state is literally Nature's Playground with a breathtaking backdrop of incredible beauty. It is my pleasure to offer a glimpse of what Idaho has to offer residents and visitors alike.

Fishing

The Northwest offers world-class sport fisheries with over half of the surface water in Idaho located in this area. If you're looking for adventure, stop at a trailhead and hike up into the mountains to fish the cool waters of a mountain stream or lake. You can use a fly rod or regular tackle while fishing most of these waters. If rushing water is more to your style, don't go anywhere without your tackle. You can stop right next to the road and fish right off the banks of many rivers. A 37 pound Kamloops trout has been taken from Lake Pend Oreille and prize winning Dolly Varden are not uncommon. Chinook salmon up to 42 pounds are hooked in Lake Coeur d'Alene. Lake Coeur d'Alene and Hayden Lake hold the tasty kokanee (land locked) along with rainbow, cutthroat, brook, and German brown trout, large mouth bass and perch. The Coeur d'Alene River, and the St Joe River are also stocked with fish for fly fishing.

The nationally recognized Silver Valley snowmobile trail system is rated the best, with over 1000 miles of trails. Also in the St. Joe valley, snowmobiling is one of the most delightful winter sports with enthusiasts galore. Maps are available from the me Forest Service or call the Wallace Chamber of Commerce 208-753-7151.

If you love to ski or snowboard, you'll love North Idaho. The region boasts three awesome ski resorts, all within 1 1/2 hours of Coeur d'Alene. SILVER MOUNTAIN in Kellogg boasts the world's longest gondola (also running in the summer), which takes you to the top of Kellogg Peak to begin your skiing or snowboarding adventure. LOOKOUT PASS near the Montana border offers 150 skiable acres, 14 downhill runs and cross country skiing trails. SCHWEITZER MOUNTAIN, just north of Sandpoint, is all about fun, year round. SCHWEITZER boasts two high-speed quad lifts, cross country skiing and 6400 vertical feet. Lake Coeur d'Alene, 25 miles long and depth 120 feet, covering 25,100 acres.

Hayden Lake covering 4000 acres

Two major rivers flow through my area. The Coeur d'Alene River and the St. Joe. St Joe is the worlds highest navigable river and flows through two lakes. It is considered a world reknowned trout stream (catch and release). I have camped there many times and caught lots of fish.

Real Estate Tips

Financing Your Home >Mortgage Terms

New mortgage loan products offer a more complex selection of terms. Lenders now offer mortgages that are blends of short-term ARMs and 30-year fixed-rate loans with a lower fixed-rate of interest for a period of five, seven or ten years. Be sure that you understand what happens at the end of the initial term before you sign on the dotted line for such a loan.

Many of these loans revert to a 1-year adjustable rate loan at the end of the initial term and can be adjusted once a year based on an index tied to the cost of money. You should know how much over the index your rate will be set and the limit or cap on how much your payments can increase. A "balloon" note requires the entire balance to be paid to the lender after the initial period of the loan ends. Most of these loans require the lender to guarantee to refinance the note at that point if payments have been timely. The lender should spell out how the re-finance rate will be determined and what costs will be involved. These loans can help you buy a more expensive house than you could afford with a 30-year fixed rate mortgage, but be sure that you understand the terms and the potential risks.
